Collaborate with files using OneDrive

When you want to work on a project, presentation, spreadsheet, folder or other file with others online here is the best way to do it using Microsoft OneDrive.

iPad

1. From whatever Microsoft or Apple App "share" the file to your OneDrive to save it there. We recommend creating a folder to place it in but that is not required.
2. Next open the OneDrive App.
3. Locate the file and tap the ... (ellipsis) on the side and select Share.
4. Make sure the option "Anyone with the link can edit" is chosen.
   • Alternatively to the next steps you can simply click "Copy" at the bottom and paste the link into a message to others and skip to step 8.
5. Add people you want to have access to the file.
6. Include a brief message about the file(s) so others don't confuse it with a phishing message.
7. Tap Send.
8. Verify that the people that you sent to received the link and can edit the file.

Microsoft Windows

1. If you haven't already save the file(s) to a folder in OneDrive - St. Mary's Academy.
2. Locate the file or folder and right-click it.
3. Select Share.
4. Click on the little gear for Settings.
   
5. Change the settings to match the security you want to assign. Important to keep in mind: Note: If you assign "Can edit," whoever you send the link will be able to edit or delete the files/folders, so be careful. Use "Can view" instead if you don't want that to happen.
6. When done with the settings, click Apply.
7. Click Copy link.
8. Paste the link into an email and send to people you want to access the file. 
9. Include a brief message about the file(s) so others don't confuse it with a phishing message.
10. Send the email.

Using macOS

1. If you haven't already save the file(s) to a folder in OneDrive.
2. In Safari go to https://login.microsoftonline.com and login with your Microsoft 365 account.
3. Click on the "Waffle" (9 dots at the top left) and choose OneDrive.
4. Locate the folder or file(s) and highlight then clicking the share icon.
5. Make sure the option "Anyone with the link can edit" is chosen.
   • Alternatively to the next steps you can simply click "Copy" at the bottom and paste the link into a message to others and skip to step 8.
6. Add people you want to have access to the file.
7. Include a brief message about the file(s) so others don't confuse it with a phishing message.
8. Tap Send.
9. Verify that the people that you sent to received the link and can edit the file.
