Our primary online meeting tool is Microsoft Teams with Google Meet as a backup. Here are the guidelines*.
Microsoft Teams
- Teams is our primary online meeting environment and should be used whenever possible even when hosting a meeting that will include people outside of SMA (you can specify whether or not someone requires an account to join when setting up the meeting).
- Up to 1,000 people can join a Microsoft Teams meeting that can last up to 30 hours.
Google Meet (using the SMA Google Workspace account)
- Does not work as well as Teams so only use it if Teams isn't working.
* Online Classes or Appointments
For those taking an online class and/or have an appointment that uses the above (or other services like Zoom, Cisco Webex, GoToMeeting, etc.) you should be able to join without needing an account. But it may require that you download/install an App on your computer/iPad. Teams is installed automatically on iPads.
What happened to SMA Zoom education accounts? As of July 1, 2023 we no longer partner with Zoom for our video collaboration. Existing accounts will continue to work as basic accounts which have a time limit of 40 minutes per meeting and a limit of 100 participants.
