Choose Apple menu (little Apple icon at the top left of screen) > System Preferences, then click Software Update.
The general rule is to check for and install updates at least once per month. This will help protect your information and the network that others are using.
What if Apple says there is a problem? If Apple warns users to delay updating to the newest version of macOS, it is a good idea to wait until the issues have been resolved with a newer update.
