Using Secure Print
With our copiers, we have the option to use Secure Print. This allows faculty and staff to send documents to a copier but not actually print them until they are physically in front of the copier*. Here is how to use it:
- Go to print your document as you normally would.
- Select the Copier where you want to print.
- Click on Printer Properties.
- Change Output Method at the top to Secure Print.
- A window should pop-up like the one below asking if you want to set the user information. Click Yes.
- For User Name, if it is not already entered, enter your computer login (NOT your email address).
- For PIN, enter a number you will easily remember.
- Click OK > OK.
- Click Print.
- Physically go to the copier.
- Log in with your computer account or key fob as noted below.
- Tap the Print button with the little lock icon.
- Tap on the document(s) that is waiting to print just below Job Name/Print Settings.
- Tap Start Printing.
- Your document(s) should then start printing out.
*Why use Secure Print?
- Prevents confidential documents from sitting unattended in output trays.
- Reduces risk of data leaks (HR records, financials, customer data).
- Helps meet privacy standards like HIPAA, GDPR, or internal compliance policies.

Using your Key Fob
The copiers are only for the faculty and staff to use. You can print to them from your computer or iPad. To make copies or scan documents, you will need to either use your key fob or your SMA computer login and password.
The copiers have an RFID (or as we like to call it key fob or FOB) reader. Rather than using your SMA computer login every time, you have the option of using your key fob.

ββ
βAnd setting it up is easy. Present your FOB to the reader on the copier you use the most you until it beeps. On the screen you will be asked if you want to associate it with your account. When you answer Yes, you will be presented with the option to enter your SMA computer login and password. After you enter your information, it will confirm that you can use the key fob with your account on any of the copiers you are authorized to use. Yes, itβs that simple and you only have to do it once.
Important Note: There are no longer codes set up to access the copier. You either have to use your key fob or your SMA computer login and password.
