AirParrot is an application that allows a Windows laptop to mirror to an Apple TV via AirPlay. Here are some basic instructions on how to use it at St. Mary's.
Mirroring your Windows laptop:
- Power on your room screen/projector and the Apple TV.
- Open AirParrot 3 on your laptop. (If you are missing this icon please email us.)
- If an "offer" window appears (AirParrot Remote, etc.) check the box at the bottom left titled "Do not show this again" then close the window.
- Select "Try AirParrot 3" (trial version that we will send you license later) otherwise go to next step.
- Select what you would like to display on the Apple TV (your laptop screen, extend your desktop, etc.)
- Under "To" select the Apple TV in your classroom. For instance, ATV-210 = Room 210. Note: If no Apple TVs appear reboot your laptop and try again.
- You should be prompted to enter a code. It is either:
-
-
- 4 digit code which appears on the Apple TV screen or
- The room number that follows the "ATV-". In the above case the passcode would be 210.
-
8. Once you successfully enter the code you should then be mirroring.
Done Mirroring?
When you are done mirroring open AirParrot from the taskbar then click the small 'power' icon at the top of the AirParrot control window:
When you are completely done with AirParrot for the day simply close it with the "X" at the top right corner or clicking the small "gear" icon at the bottom right and select Quit AirParrot 3.
Important Note: If you are utilizing the Swivl with iPad for your classes be sure when you use AirParrot 3 to connect to the Apple TV that you do not include audio.
