Faculty and staff often will show content from streaming services for classroom instruction. However, many of the video streaming services (Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc.) have copyright or other type of protection preventing their content to be shown either via AirPlay or other means like HDMI. It is especially restricted when using an iPad.
We have had some success with streaming services using either Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox on the laptops with AirPlay (or AirParrot) and/or hard wiring it to the screen/projector. These browsers should already be on your laptop. If this works for you then feel free to play “Patty Would Approve” movies/shows for the students in the classroom. Unfortunately, if what you are wanting to stream doesn’t work with either of these browsers there is not much we can do to resolve the issue.
Under no circumstances should you set up Apps that are on the Apple TV directly as it will cause issues and will ultimately fail because they are blocked from all video streaming services. These are to be used for AirPlay only.
