The iPad is like any electronic device in that it can affect your health causing fatigue, eye strain, etc. As it is an essential tool used at St. Mary's Academy here are some settings/tips to help with reduce these issues:
Settings > Display & Brightness > Night Shift > Scheduled turned ON and set to Sunset to Sunrise. We also recommend for the Color Temperature you favor "More Warm".
Settings > Do Not Disturb > Scheduled turned ON and set to one hour before you typically sleep like 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Reduce Motion and turn it ON.
Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Increase Contrast and turn it OFF.
There are addition settings that you can turn on and off to see if they make a difference for you: Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size >
- Invert Colors
- Color Filters
- Auto-Brightness
- Reduce White Point
Take Breaks! "Screen time" has been an issue for as long as computers have been around. One should not stare at a screen for more than 2 hours without taking a break. There are even Apps that you can set reminders to take breaks more frequently if you like or even using the timer on the iPad.
Finally, we recommend at night to charge the iPad either on the opposite side of the room or in a different room entirely. Having it next to the bed can disturb sleep as it does back up and update Apps nightly so it is active on Wi-Fi during that time.
