Cases that hold the iPad by using elastic bands over time break down and allow the iPad to move around increasing the likelihood of impact damage. |
|
Cases that are held by just small tabs, whether they are plastic or rubber, break down over time which results in the iPad easily falling out of the case.
In addition, the sides of the iPad are still exposed to impact damage.

|
Keyboard cases that hold the iPad in with only two tabs break leave the sides exposed to impact damage and the tabs break down/crack thus no longer holding the iPad in place. |

The general rule would be that the iPad should not be easy to remove from it's protective case. In all of the examples above it is way too easy to remove the iPad which wears down the elastic and tabs very quickly.
